We’re all about collaboration! Here are initiatives that the Third Ward Cultural District is leading alongside our partners across the neighborhood and region.

Juneteenth Houston

We are the sponsoring organization for the Juneteenth Houston Citywide Collaborative. This collaborative organizes the annual citywide Juneteenth kickoff event with seven historically Black communities, the citywide event calendar, and a Black history bus tour.

HouArts in Action

HouArts in Action is an effort to champion arts & culture in the Greater Houston Area sponsored by Houston’s Cultural Districts, and is an opportunity for the sector to come together to craft a platform and strategy to champion the arts.

Cultural District Programming Stipends

Applications for a $1,000 programming stipend are reviewed on a rolling basis. Event organizers can apply in advance for financial support for their programs taking place within the Third Ward Cultural District, including but not limited to performances, exhibitions, vendor markets, and activations.

Third Ward Community Cloth Cooperative Cultural Arts Thread

The Third Ward Cultural District facilitates the monthly Cultural Arts thread meetings of the Community Cloth on the second Tuesday of each month.

The Cloth exists to identify, mobilize, unify, stabilize, create and coordinate resources to nurture and enhance the bodies, minds and spirits of children, youth and families in the greater Third Ward area.

Greater Houston Area Kwanzaa Planning Committee

The Third Ward Cultural District supports the planning and operation of the Kwanzaa programming from Houston to Galveston.
